Adopt a precinct for Kids Voting

In order for Kids Voting to work, it takes hundreds of volunteers. Your organization has the unique opportunity to volunteer by adopting a precinct. Precincts vary to fit your needs. We have small precincts available and larger precincts for larger organizations. All 115 precincts need to be adopted and staffed so children will be able to cast their votes on November 7. Contact us today to reserve your local precinct.

The adoption process is simple:

  1. If your organization agrees to adopt a precinct, please complete the form and return it to Rebecca Collazo via fax at 656-1160 or e-mail kidsvoting@gmail.com as soon as possible, and we will match you with an appropriate precinct. Please indicate your preference, if known.
  2. Elect a Precinct Captain. This person will be responsible for attending a training session (on October 19 at 5:30 or 7:00 at the Howell Center across from TCC) and coordinating volunteers from your organization.

On Election Day - November 7:

  1. Set up the Kids Voting Booth at your adopted precinct by 7:00 a.m. on November 7.
  2. Staff the precinct with your volunteers (7:00 a.m. - 9 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.).
  3. Greet all students and assist them with the voting procedure if needed.
  4. Deliver all ballots to the counting area (Leon County Courthouse) after the polls close at 7:00 p.m.

That's it! Volunteers then count all Kids Voting ballots so the results may be published with the regular election results in the Tallahassee Democrat.
